A Rock Hill baseball coach dies in car wreck heading to a game in Sumter

A Rock Hill man has died due to a car wreck in Kershaw County. Saturday morning just before noon, an accident happened on I-20 at mile marker 93 near Camden on the east bound side. The driver, Jalen Benjamin was driving a 2006 Ford F150 and was hit in the rear. Troopers say a Tractor trailer hit the back of the pickup truck which also forced it to hit another car, a 2011 Buick Sedan in the rear. The crash sent the car off the road and the pickup truck flipped. Benjamin was pronounced dead at the scene, and was just 29 years old. He was a school teacher and baseball coach at Legion Collegiate Academy in Rock Hill. He was on his way to a baseball game in Sumter. The crash is still under investigation by the Highway Patrol and Kershaw County Coroner’s Office.
