Negotiations stall between bipartisan group working on border security deal
A bipartisan group of lawmakers is negotiating a border security deal, but according to reports, the negotiations have stalled. The lawmakers are said to be trying to find an amount of funding for a wall to be built along the nation’s southern border that would be acceptable to both sides and Democrats on the committee reportedly want to limit the number of detention beds provided to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for detained immigrants.
On Fox’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Republican senator Lindsey Graham, an ally of President Trump…told host Maria Bartiromohe was confident the president would not sign a bill that decreased the number of detention beds used by ICE.
The panel has until February 15th to reach a deal in order to avoid another government shutdown.
