Honored, thrilled and humbled beyond belief.  That was the reaction of Rawlinson Road Middle School English and language arts teacher Rhonda Hudak to being named the Rock Hill School District teacher of the year at a pep rally this morning.  Hudak is making a transition this year.

Hudak received a $1500 award from the district, $1000 from the state Education Department, a $500 grant from the Rock Hill School District Foundation and the keys to a new Honda CRV for one year from Honda Cars of Rock Hill.  The runners-up for teacher of the year were Dutchman Creek Middle School math teacher Andy Majors and Saluda Trail Middle School special education teacher Samantha Goodman. The elementary beginning teacher of the year was Richmond Drive art teacher April Thornton, while the secondary beginning teacher of the year was Rock Hill High School art teacher Emily Rapposelli.  About 2,000 people turned out for this morning’s pep rally.
