Retired Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones spoke to a crowd of several hundred people Sunday night during Winthrop University’s 14th annual First Pitch Dinner. Earlier in the afternoon, Jones got a chance to talk with Winthrop’s baseball team and met with reporters. He had this to say about his chances of being a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.
Jones says he fully realizes there are a lot of Braves fans in South Carolina.
Jones says his advice to young players today is to have fun and be focused on their goals.
Jones played some games at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill during his minor league stint in the early 1990s. He is considered one of the top five switch-hitters in Major League Baseball history.
