Fort Mill to Break Ground on $25 Million Operations Center

The Town of Fort Mill is proud to announce the upcoming groundbreaking of our new Operations Center, to be located at the corner of Banks Road and Sparkling Brook Parkway. As Fort Mill continues to welcome more residents and families into our community, the need for a modern, expanded facility has become essential. The Town’s current utilities and public works buildings have served our community well, but aging infrastructure and the demands of an ever-increasing population have made it clear that the time for a new Operations Center has come.
This landmark facility will be built on a 33-acre site and will include an Administrative and Operations Building, Fleet Maintenance Building, Warehouse Building, and Carwash Building.

The Operations Center will serve as the central hub for many of the Town’s essential departments and divisions, including the Public Works Department, Utilities Department, Water/Sewer/Stormwater Divisions, Street Maintenance Division, Buildings and Grounds Division, Fleet Management, Sanitation, and Recycling. The facility has also been designed and outfitted to serve as a backup Emergency Operations Center should the need ever arise.
The total project investment is approximately $38,000,000, with $25,000,000 made possible through an earmark from the State of South Carolina. The remainder reflects the Town’s commitment to investing in the infrastructure and workforce that keep Fort Mill running every day.
We are incredibly excited to provide our dedicated employees with a modern, state-of-the-art workspace that will enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the services we deliver to our residents. This Operations Center is built not just for today, but for the generations to come.
