One C, Six B Ratings Among York County Restaurant Inspections in March 2026

York County food service establishments largely maintained strong food safety standards in March 2026, with the vast majority of inspected businesses earning top marks. Of the 336 inspections conducted by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture during the month, one establishment received a C grade and six received B grades — though all seven were subsequently upgraded to passing grades following reinspection.

The inspections span restaurants, school cafeterias, convenience stores, food trucks, and other retail food establishments across Fort Mill, Rock Hill, York, Clover, Tega Cay, Lake Wylie, and surrounding communities.

The Only C Grade: Sharon Grill

The most concerning inspection of the month belonged to Sharon Grill, located at 3718 York St. in Sharon. Inspected on March 3, the establishment earned a score of 72 points — a C grade — during a routine inspection, the lowest result recorded in the county for March.

Inspectors documented a series of priority violations during the visit. No person in charge was present at the time of the inspection, and the facility lacked a certified food handler on duty. An employee was observed wiping their face and hair and then continuing to cook without changing gloves or washing hands, and another employee handled cheese slices with bare hands — direct contact with ready-to-eat foods that is prohibited under state regulations.

Temperature control was also a significant concern. Open sauces labeled “refrigerate after opening” were found sitting at room temperature on a shelf: soy sauce at 60°F, teriyaki sauce at 60°F, and BBQ sauce at 61°F — well above the 41°F maximum required for cold-holding. The facility also had ready-to-eat foods missing required disposition dates.

Additional violations included restricted-use pesticides stored in the kitchen above a prep area, a fly trap positioned over the three-compartment sink, single-use items stored beneath chemicals, a lack of an air gap on a sink spray nozzle, and numerous cleanliness issues including excess grease on hoods, dust on the kitchen ceiling, damaged or missing ceiling tiles, and excess dirt in the walk-in cooler and freezer.

Inspectors required a follow-up inspection, and a routine reinspection within 60 days was also mandated. Sharon Grill was reinspected on March 5 and upgraded to an A grade, indicating the violations identified during the routine inspection had been corrected.

Six Establishments Earned B Grades

Six other York County establishments received B grades in March, each later upgraded after a follow-up inspection.

*Revis Grocery was issued a routine A on 3/17 and then received a B on the 3/24 follow-up; a further 10-day follow-up was scheduled.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Rock Hill

The Popeyes at 1350 East Main Street in Rock Hill received a B (95 points) on a follow-up inspection dated March 10. The visit was itself a follow-up to an earlier inspection, and inspectors noted a priority foundation violation tied to the person in charge — the facility had two or more violations on record. Inspectors also found excess grease buildup in and on the bun toaster, and organic matter buildup inside the drive-through ice bin. A follow-up was required. The location was reinspected on March 17 and upgraded to an A grade.

T’s Indian Kitchen — Tega Cay

T’s Indian Kitchen at 1160 Stonecrest Blvd. in Tega Cay earned 86 points — a B grade — on a routine inspection March 13. Inspectors found two handwashing sinks blocked: one in the dish pit and another in the rear prep area. Clean dishes had sticker residue on them, and a hose in the mop sink was under pressure without a required backflow prevention device. Additional violations included pots too large for the sink being washed on the floor, dishes washed in water that was only 85°F (below the required 110°F minimum), food stored on the floor of the walk-in freezer, and dishes being stacked wet. A personal care item (cell phone) was also found on a prep table. A follow-up was required, and the restaurant was reinspected on March 19, receiving an A.

Los Aztecas — Fort Mill

Los Aztecas at 741 Crossroads Plaza in Fort Mill scored 85 points — a B — during its routine inspection on March 16. Inspectors observed an employee eating soup at the grill area. On the hot line, rice was measured at 118°F and queso at 80°F, both below the required 135°F minimum hot-holding temperature. Salsa, mole, and salsa verde were also found past their disposition dates, though those items were corrected on site. The walk-in freezer had food stored on the floor and ice buildup on non-food contact surfaces. The freezer door gasket was in poor repair. A follow-up was required; the restaurant earned an A on March 20.

La Calentana/Victor Cafe — Fort Mill

La Calentana/Victor Cafe at 3674 Hwy 51 in Fort Mill received a B (81 points) on a routine inspection March 18 — one of the lower B grades issued during the month. The inspection report noted multiple consecutive violations, meaning some of the issues had been identified in prior inspections and not corrected.

Inspectors found refried beans on the cook line holding at only 88°F, below the 135°F hot-holding requirement, flagged as a consecutive violation. Deli ham and hot dogs with a date of February 22 and cooked rice dated January 24 were found held well past their disposal dates. A spray bottle under the sink was not labeled with its common working name — also a consecutive violation — and a home-use pesticide was found stored under the sink. The side door was left open at the time of inspection, the window screen was not self-closing, and the fly fan was not operating, conditions flagged as a consecutive violation. The facility also lacked chlorine test strips, another consecutive violation. A mop was found stored in dirty water. A follow-up was scheduled, and the establishment was upgraded to an A on March 25.

Earthfare Deli — Rock Hill

Earthfare Deli at 725 Cherry Rd. in Rock Hill scored 83 points — a B — during its routine inspection March 20. Inspectors noted that the dishroom hand sink only reached 87°F, below the 100°F minimum, while the bakery hand sink was blocked with utensils and a measuring cup. In the bakery refrigerator, raw shelled eggs were stored above ready-to-eat foods. Food prep containers had excessive sticker residue, and multiple unlabeled bottles were found on site. Dairy products including milk, heavy cream, and orange juice were found stored past their labeled discard dates. Coffee filters at the juice bar were not stored inverted or covered, and baker racks and the pizza oven top showed excessive food and grease buildup. Required records for parasite destruction were also not available. A follow-up was required; Earthfare Deli was reinspected March 25 and received an A.

Revis Grocery — York

Revis Grocery at 1005 N. Congress Street in York received a B (93 points) on a follow-up inspection March 24. The visit came as part of a continuing series of inspections following prior violations. No employee with a valid food handler certificate was working at the time of inspection, and the facility could not produce a food manager certificate.

Most notably, the report flagged three consecutive violations — issues that had been identified in previous inspections and remained uncorrected. The facility had no active date marking system for temperature-controlled ready-to-eat foods, and opened containers of chili, hot dogs, and cole slaw were found without required date labels. Mouse droppings were observed throughout the dry storage room, a persistent pest control issue that inspectors said could be referred to the state’s enforcement section. A 10-day follow-up was required; Revis Grocery had received an A on a separate routine inspection on March 17, before this follow-up visit.

Grading Scale and Context

South Carolina grades retail food establishments on a 100-point scale. An A requires a score of 88 or higher; a B falls between 78 and 87; a C ranges from 68 to 77. Establishments scoring below 68 receive a D, and those scoring below 58 receive a U (unsatisfactory). No York County establishment received below a C grade in March 2026.

Under state law, violations can result in monetary penalties of up to $1,000 per violation per day of non-compliance. Consecutive violations — those that appear in successive inspections without correction — may be referred to the SCDA Enforcement Section for further action.
