Judge Refuses To Dismiss Adams Lawsuit Against NFL

A federal judge in South Carolina has refused to dismiss a brain injury lawsuit against the NFL that stems from a 2021 mass shooting of 6 people in Rock Hill by former player Phillip Adams.. The 32 year old Adams took his own life as deputies surrounded his parents’ home after the shooting…The court’s decision moves the lawsuit back to state court and seeks restitution from the NFL and S.C. State University.. Adams played for several teams in the NFL from 2010 to 2015, and the lawsuit seeks damages for claims alleging Phillip Adams’ son suffered emotional and financial losses when his father died in 2021… The suit filed by Adams’ father, Alonzo, alleges S.C. State, the NFL and NFL Properties. It claims the defendants knew or should have known that Adams engaged in activity detrimental to his safety when Adams suffered concussions and brain injuries, including CTE, a brain condition found in former football players that is caused by repeated head trauma… Craig Wilkerson of Rock Hill and Gedney Howe of Charleston, are the lawyers for the Adams’ family.
