Council approves impact fees for Fort Mill School District

Fort Mill impact fees were approved Monday night at York County Council. This means that new home builders will have to pay a fee of up to $30,000 as the town is looking to support future growth. With that fee means even higher home prices for Fort Mill. Council passed third reading 4-3 which goes into effect the first of July. And it counts on residential buildings inside the boundaries of the Fort Mill School District. Officials with the district have said it requires the transplants or new residents to pay for the growth. This marks the first time Council has raised the fees in 2018 when they approved 18,000 per home and 12,000 per apartment. These fees help the construction of new schools which the district has five projects currently estimated just under 400 million. The district thinks its enrollment could increase in 10 years by 5200 more students, and by 12,500 in 2045. More on this story with audio on news this afternoon…
