City of Rock Hill leaders could be looking at rules/regulations to crack down on homeless staying in hotels for long periods of time
City of Rock Hill officials could be cracking down on homeless people living in hotels. Advocates are calling for more family shelters in York County. Tonight, the city is looking at new rules to cut down calls for police and medical services. Per the Herald, some of the changes would include capping hotel stays for any guest at 30 total nights, prohibiting renting rooms with exterior doors to residents of the county, allowing room inspections upon request by city to ensure compliance along with requiring certain information as well. In violation of these rules, hotels could be penalized with demolition by city or costs assessed as a lien on property. The proposal is being presented at the planning commission tonight, however city council will make the final decision WRHI has spoken to City officials and there will be more details and audio to this story later in the week.
