Officer with Rock Hill police fires shot at someone after they had previously pointed gun at York County Deputy

An officer with the Rock Hill police shot a woman Saturday after she had previously pointed a gun at a deputy for York County. Just after 6pm on Saturday, York County Deputies responded to Nassau Circle and Young Warrior Town drive about a female in a burgundy Jeep shooting out of the vehicle. As a deputy approached the vehicle, the female pointed the gun at him before driving away. Stop sticks were used to deflate the Jeep’s tires after a pursuit and the female was stopped near Cheryl Lynn Drive near Sturgis road. Rock Hill police along with SWAT operators assisted. Per a release, officials say that after several attempts were made to negotiate with the female to get out of her car, a Rock Hill police officer fired one round which hit the female in the shoulder. The woman has not been identified but she is in the hospital in stable condition. Per York County Sheriff’s Office policy and in collaboration with the Rock Hill Police Department’s policy, a request has been made for the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to investigate the incident.
