York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson held a press conference for media saying a significant arrest has been made after a scam investigation. Tens of thousands of dollars were stolen. 43 year old Shulong Li is in custody and is connected to at least three incidents where he attempted to scam people out of money. Tolson described one of those where Li called a woman from Minnesota, and said her son had been been arrested on drug charges and she could send money to clear his name. Deputies uncovered 43,000 total in cash that Li had obtained from victims. The York County Sheriff’s office has investigated 869 fraud cases, scamming people out of 3.7 million. Of those cases, 61 involved officer impersonations. The scammer, Li is currently in jail with a bond of 55,000 dollars.
