York Technical College Students Win National Competition

YORK COUNTY, SC – For the second year in a row, York Technical College is a national champion!
The SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia wrapped up on Friday, June 28th, and
multiple York Technical College students across a variety of programs made the podium, earning a
bronze, silver, or gold medal. The medals not only prove that we have the best programs and
strongest faculty in the nation, but we have the brightest students too.
Congratulations to the following competitors:
• Nathan Baker and Sean Hanes – Gold Medal in Mechatronics
• Britney Hunter – Silver Medal in Nursing Assisting
• Daniel Pernell – Silver Medal in Action Skills
• Tristan Moss – Bronze Medal in CNC 5 Axis Milling
We are incredibly proud of our winners, their advisors, and the entire SkillsUSA Chapter at York
Technical College. They worked hard this past year to get to the national stage, and we are thrilled to
see their efforts pay off.
Both Nathan Baker and Sean Hanes will have the chance to represent the United States of America
at the international competition, WorldSkills, later this year.
The 2023 SkillsUSA National Competition saw York Technical College win gold and silver in CNC
Axis Milling. With the College doubling its medal count in 2024, we cannot wait to see what 2025 has
in store!
