Plan for senior residences rejected for zoning by FM Planning Commission
A plan for senior residences in Fort Mill hit a snag this week. It was a unanimous vote against a zoning change for more than 50 acres on River Crossing Road that would bring a mix of homes, apartments an duplexes. The planning commission claimed they will make recommendations to the proposals before it heads to the Town Council. The application made by Novant Health was to be called Restore at River Crossing. There would have been units for ages 55 and older. The total investment looks to be around 122 million dollars with three million in annual operating proceeds from payroll and taxes. It would also include 30 jobs. The staff said that the plan doesn’t fit with its long range plan. Currently the property is zoned for commercial use.
