York school District approves and announces higher pay for teachers
The York School district announced higher pay for teachers starting this fall. The School board voted unanimously approving an increase of 3,000 dollars. Kelly Coxe, the superintendent of the district says that their teachers truly make a difference. The board believes this will help in retention and bringing more teachers in. This makes the avearge salary in York for a first year teacher that has a bachelors degree at 42,180.
The raise sees a comparable salary in Chester County and only slightly less than Lancaster County. Fort Mill Clover and Rock Hill districts are all above 43,000 on average.
