The U.S. Census Bureau has released new population estimates that show Fort Mill’s growth rate is in the top five nationally for cities and towns its size…Fort Mill now has 30,940 residents-a growth rate of 10.7% in a year, and a 26.2% growth rate since the 2020 Census…Baxter, the Carowinds area and properties heading toward Tega Cay are outside Fort Mill’s town limits and are not included in these numbers.The new population estimate shows Rock Hill grew by more than 600 people to a total of 75,349.. In total population, Rock Hill is 5th largest in South Carolina behind Charleston, Columbia, North Charleston and Mount Pleasant…Neighboring Charlotte is the biggest city in the two Carolinas and the 15th largest city in the nation. Behind Fort Mill, York County’s newest high growth is Clover. Clover has an estimated 7,405-a 6.5% increase in just one year. Since the last census, Clover is No. 10 among South Carolina municipalities with a growth rate of 10.9%.. Tega Cay now has an estimated 13,689 residents-up 3.1% in just one year.
