Two killed in single-vehicle early afternoon accident near Hickory Grove
Two people are dead following an early-afternoon single-vehicle crash near Hickory Grove in York County.
SC Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Gary Miller says an SUV was traveling south on Highway 211 near Wilkerson Rd. around 12:40 p.m. when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road, struck a fence and a tree.
Miller says the front-seat passenger and one back-seat passenger were killed in the crash.
The 17-year-old driver, who lives in Gaffney, was extricated and airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
An 18-year-old back-seat passenger from Gaffney was also injured and airlifted to the same hospital.
The names of the fatality victims have not been released.
Miller says the wreck is still under investigation.
