[media-credit id=18 align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]South Carolina’s controversial Voter ID law was upheld Wednesday in a federal courtroom. Under the ruling the law that would require voters to present a photo ID when voting starting with the November 2013 elections.

State Attorney General Alan Wilson calls the ruling a major victory for South Carolina’s election process.

U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney (SC-5) says the law has been in the works for several years now and politics seemed to get in the way of its full roll-out.

Opponents of the Voter ID law say it discriminates and disenfranchises minority voters.
