A York man is still listed in critical condition after he reportedly jumped from a ledge inside the Moss Justice Center Monday.

Authorities say just after 4 o’clock Monday afternoon 49-year-old Steven Spagnoli jumped from an upper tier stair rail, falling 12 feet and onto his head.

Sheriff’s spokesman Major Robbie Hudgins says Spagnoli was out of his cell for his allotted recreation period when the incident occurred, and he was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.

Spagnoli was sentenced to life in prison for Murder on Friday, and was scheduled to be transferred to the custody of the state corrections department on Tuesday.

Hudgins says that Spagnoli was the only inmate out of his cell in the housing area at the time.
