Huffmon: local GOP leader, 5th district race, bringing limelight to York County

If you’ve found yourself a bit taken back by the sheer time that GOP presidential hopefuls have spent in York County in recent weeks, there’s likely a good reason for it.

Winthrop University political science professor and pollster Scott Huffmon explains why banquet halls, fish camps and local restaurants were filled with candidates and their supporters.

And besides the physical proximity to Charlotte Douglas Airport, Huffmon says there are political reasons as well.

Huffmon says the influence of York County GOP Chair Glenn McCall and his role as a national committeeman for the GOP has also brightened the spotlight on York County.
