Woman charged after breaking into a York County church this week

27 year old Elizabeth Barnes has been charged with burglary, larceny and malicious injury to property by the York County Sheriff’s Office after smashing windows and breaking into a church Wednesday night. Sheriff’s Deputies say she smashed windows at the Catawba Baptist Church on Hwy 21 and entered the church. Deputies received a call at nearby Hopewell Presbyterian and found a black Fiat parked behind the church, which then took off when officers arrived. Barnes was caught after a short chase that ended at the I-77 exit ramp and deputies say the found property from Catawba Baptist and a baseball bat in her vehicle.
