Sharon Man Arrested on Child Sexual Exploitation Charges Following CyberTip

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced earlier this week the arrest of James Dale McKenzie, 49, of Sharon, S.C., on three felony charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was made on April 29, 2025, by investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force of the York County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators from the Attorney General’s Office, also members of the state’s ICAC Task Force, provided assistance in the investigation.
The investigation into McKenzie was initiated following a CyberTipline report received by authorities from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Based on this report, investigators determined that McKenzie possessed files containing child sexual abuse material.
McKenzie is charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree (§16-15-410). Each of these felony charges carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment.
The Attorney General’s Office will be responsible for the prosecution of this case.
