AUDIO: Governor McMaster “Optimistic” After Meeting With Panthers Owner
South Carolina Governor, Henry McMaster, met with Carolina Panthers’ owner David Tepper on Wednesday morning to discuss the possibility of relocating the team operations to South Carolina. According to the press conference, if a move were to be made, it would be a $150 million investment over the next four years and include 150 employees.
The total annual payroll would be $190 million. McMaster did not address the specific location, instead saying it was up to Tepper. Speculation is that either a Rock Hill site or Fort Mill’s former Knights’ stadium complex would be the likely location.
The move would include the entire football operation and the team’s front office staff. In addition, hotels and retail establishments would be part of the complex.
