York County Municipal Election Filing Update: One Week In
Filing for the 2025 municipal elections in York County has been open for one week, and while some races are drawing multiple candidates, others have yet to see anyone step forward. Filing will remain open until Friday, September 5, 2025, at noon.
As of now, the towns of McConnells, Sharon, Hickory Grove, and the City of Clover’s special election have no filings.
Clover (Regular Election)
Six candidates have filed for Town Council seats in Clover: Jeremy Brashears, Rorie Brooks, Teresa Hurst, Jeffrey Kidd, Melissa Mason, and Ian Moyer.
Tega Cay
Two candidates are seeking the mayor’s seat — Chris Gray and Carmen Miller. For the open City Council seats, Thomas Hyslip and Heather Jones have filed.
Fort Mill
Allen Garrison is running for Town Council Ward 1, Ben Hudgins has filed for Ward 3, and Chris Wolfe is seeking the at-large seat.
Rock Hill
Mayor John Gettys is seeking re-election and is joined in the race by William “Bump” Roddey. City Council candidates include John A. Black III (Ward 4), Perry Sutton (Ward 5), and Nate Mallard (Ward 6).
York
Matthew Hickey has filed for the City Council District 1 seat.
Smyrna
In Smyrna, Robert W. Faulkner Jr. is running for mayor, while Robert W. Faulkner Sr. has filed for Town Council.
Filing for all municipal offices will remain open until Friday, September 5, 2025, at noon.
