Taylor Farrar is quickly making a name for herself in the world of acting. Originally from Fayetteville, Georgia, the twenty something actress moved to Fort Mill several years ago. Having recently landed a recurring role on the acclaimed BET+ series Divorced Sistas, she’s living her best life while enjoying all that Fort Mill has to offer.

Upon graduating high school, she saw Charlotte as a way to leave a town she’d always known while staying within driving distance of her parents, who continue to call Fayetteville home. “I love Fort Mill. Anne Springs is my escape,” said Farrar. “I love Baxter Village, Kingsley and the whole community.”

Although she took a break from acting in her mid teens, she jumped back in with both feet, starring in several school plays including The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Sister Act and Hairspray. This gave her the confidence to pursue acting further, transitioning from the stage to film. Once she settled in Fort Mill, she started taking classes at Acted Out Studio in Ballantyne.

Within the year, she landed her breakout role on Divorced Sistas. As Taylor will tell you, she feels “super blessed to have landed something so quickly.”

The show centers around five best friends who are going through different stages of life, one of them being divorce and all that comes with it. The main themes are sisterhood, friends and family.

Taylor plays Kelli, the teenage daughter of the main character Rashida (played by LeToya Luckett, a founding member of Destiny’s Child). She’s referred to as a PK or Preacher’s Kid, due to the fact that her character’s father (DeVon Franklin, who’s a preacher in real life) is a preacher.

The show was filmed in Atlanta, with Episodes 1-8 available for streaming. While discussing her good fortune at landing her role on the show, Taylor wanted to include that  playing the daughter of two icons in the industry has been an honor.

Taylor has not achieved such remarkable success at a young age all alone. Her parents have been supportive of her dreams from day one. She firmly believes, “the people who don’t make it are the ones who give up. Do not give up. Your dreams are not unreachable.”

For now, her goal is to keep booking, hopefully landing a role in a TV series where her character can make a positive impact in the community. Asked where she sees herself in a few years, she said, “I want to keep going and do this full time forever. I’m super excited for what the future holds.”

The good news is, she mentioned that lots of TV shows and films are being made in the Carolinas, which affords her an opportunity to stay in the area for the foreseeable future. Although she’s ready to pack her bags and “be ready for whatever is asked of her” she’s hoping to stay in the town she’s grown to love. This is evidenced by my question about a potential move to Hollywood, “If you’re asking me now, I’d say I’d live in Fort Mill. But that may change in the future.”

Taylor is a fount of positivity who has sage advice for anyone willing to listen, “If you have a dream, even if it’s not in acting and you don’t think it’s achievable, it is. Even if it’s hard to get, you can achieve it, your dreams are reachable. Go for it.”

For Taylor Farrar, her dreams are not only reachable, they’ve come true.
