Rock Hill Senior Michael Davis Earns Prestigious SCAC Scholarship

Rock Hill, S.C. – Michael Davis, a graduating senior at Rock Hill High School, has been awarded the 2025 South Carolina Association of Counties (SCAC) Board of Directors Scholarship. This honor recognizes his outstanding academic achievements and strong community involvement.
Davis is one of 12 students across the state to receive a Board of Directors Scholarship this year, making him one of 13 total SCAC scholarship recipients, including the Presidential Scholarship winner. This marks a significant expansion for the program, which awarded five scholarships in 2024. Each scholarship is a one-time, $5,000 award.
The SCAC Scholarship Program now includes the Presidential Scholarship, awarded to a student from the Association’s current president’s home county, and 12 Board of Directors scholarships for students from different counties chosen in rotation. This year, SCAC President William Robinson hails from Allendale County, and the other 12 scholarships were designated for students from Aiken, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Charleston, Chester, Edgefield, Hampton, Lee, Sumter, Union, and York counties. The other Board of Directors scholarship recipient from this group that was previously mentioned is Kinsley Price of Great Falls High School in Chester County.
The scholarship aims to support students who show leadership, academic excellence, and a commitment to public service. Recipients are chosen based on an essay, grades, school activities, and community involvement, and must attend a two-year or four-year South Carolina college or university in the fall of 2025. While his future academic plans haven’t been announced, the scholarship will help Davis pursue higher education this fall.
“The SCAC Scholarship program is an important way our organization demonstrates its commitment to education and gives back to the counties we serve,” said William Robinson, Allendale County Council chairman and SCAC President. “We are especially excited to have expanded the program recently to reach more students and offer the opportunity to all 46 counties in the next four years.”
The SCAC awards these scholarships as part of its mission to strengthen local government leadership across South Carolina. The organization represents the state’s 46 counties, providing education, advocacy, and programs to improve county governance.
York County leaders have praised Davis’s achievement, calling it a testament to the talent of local students.
