A man charged in killing a pregnant woman and unborn baby has waived extradition from Charlotte and is currently sitting in a South Carolina jail. Pedro Mondragon-Ramirez, 41 is also under Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE hold. Per the Herald, the 16th Circuit Solicitor’s Office will handle the cases against him before officials seek deportation or other actions involving him. Ramirez currently faces murder, death in utero during a crime and multiple weapons charges. He is accused of stabbing Leonor Alpizar last Friday on Iris Circle which is located in a mobile home park. Officers served warrants Tuesday after Ramirez was extradited. He was arrested by Mecklenberg County Police Saturday after a chase by police in Charlotte on Archdale Drive. The country of origin for him is unclear. The charges carry 30 years to life under SC law. 16th Circuit Solicitor Kevin Brackett said these allegations demand any suspect face the charges in SC Court before deportations or federal immigration.
