As it starts its 52nd season, Carowinds is anticipating a decrease in park visits this year and has laid off an undisclosed number of employees… The layoffs come after parent company Six Flags Entertainment Corp. announced earlier this month that because of “economic uncertainty” it would be reducing its full-time staff system wide by over 10%..Kristin Fitzgerald, Six Flags’ east regional director of public relations for Carowinds, confirmed to The Herald that full-time positions were eliminated, but refused to say how many… She said most of the laid-off employees were offered part-time or seasonal employment-but those who were not interested in those roles, would be “provided with a separation package.” Six Flags and Carowinds’ parent company “Cedar Fair” closed on an $8 billion merger almost a year ago..
