Parents of Teen Murder Suspect Arrested in Rock Hill Shooting Investigation

The parents of a 17-year-old accused of fatally shooting another teenager at a Rock Hill gas station have been arrested, police announced Thursday.
According to the Rock Hill Police Department, Lashawndra and Anthony Collins, the mother and stepfather of Carnell Mike, were taken into custody on April 24 and charged with misprision of a felony—a charge indicating they had knowledge of a serious crime and failed to report it or acted to conceal it.
Investigators say the couple knew about the shooting and assisted Mike in evading law enforcement following the incident.
Carnell Mike, 17, is being charged as an adult with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a person under 18.
The charges stem from a shooting that occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, at the QuikTrip on South Cherry Road. Officers responding to the scene found 16-year-old Jayden Reid suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Rock Hill police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
