LANCASTER, S.C. — A Lancaster man has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery earlier this month at a local grocery store.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Alexis Rodriguez, 40, of Lancaster, has been charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of methamphetamine following the April 8, 2025, robbery at Jones Crossroads Grocery, located at 2520 Douglas Road.

Deputies responded to the store at approximately 7:48 p.m. after the proprietor reported that a man wearing black clothing, gloves, and a face covering entered the store through the back door, brandished a handgun, and demanded money. The suspect left with cash and fled in a black GMC Yukon SUV parked behind the store. No shots were fired, and the proprietor was not injured.

Surveillance footage from a nearby location captured the SUV, which was later identified as belonging to a relative of Rodriguez. Investigators with the Multijurisdictional Violent Crime Task Force located the vehicle and confirmed Rodriguez had been driving it around the time of the robbery.

On April 11, investigators executed a search warrant at Rodriguez’s residence, detaining him without incident. A search of the home uncovered cash, a 9mm pistol believed to have been used in the robbery, a smoking pipe containing suspected methamphetamine, and digital scales. Rodriguez was initially transported to a medical facility for treatment of an unrelated condition and was later booked into the Lancaster County Detention Center on April 13.

Bond was set at $10,000 on the drug possession charge but denied on the robbery and firearm charges. Rodriguez remains in custody.

“I appreciate the help we got from the citizen who provided us the video of Rodriguez in the Yukon,” said Sheriff Barry Faile. “That piece of evidence put us on the trail of Rodriguez, and he was soon identified and arrested. Armed robbery and all offenses involving firearms are very serious crimes, and through diligent work in connecting the dots, our investigators solved the robbery and put Rodriguez in jail pretty quickly.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
