Explore Local Heritage at the 2025 Battle of the Waxhaws Event Weekend

History will come to life across state lines as the Battle of the Waxhaws 2025 Event Weekend returns, offering an immersive experience that explores the region’s Revolutionary War roots. Scheduled for June 6th-8th, this cross-border event spans both North and South Carolina and invites the public to engage with key sites from the early Waxhaw Settlement.
The weekend is a joint effort by the Friends of the Buford Massacre Battlefield, Lancaster Parks and Recreation, and Downtown Waxhaw, with activities taking place at two major historic landmarks: the Buford Massacre Battlefield in Lancaster County, South Carolina, and the Museum of the Waxhaws in Waxhaw, North Carolina.
All events in Lancaster County will be free to attend, making it an accessible and family-friendly option for those interested in local history. The Lancaster programming includes guided tours, historical reenactments, and educational displays centered around the 1780 battle that played a pivotal role in the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War.
In Waxhaw, North Carolina, visitors can purchase general admission tickets for full weekend access to events at the Museum of the Waxhaws. The museum will feature curated exhibits, interactive demonstrations, and other programming designed to deepen understanding of the region’s colonial and Revolutionary War history.
Early bird tickets for the Museum of the Waxhaws portion of the event are now available at a discounted rate through May 1. Children ages six and under will be admitted free. Those interested in securing early access are encouraged to purchase tickets soon, as quantities are limited. Tickets can be purchased online.
