The town of Clover is brimming with pride as one of its own, Jaylin Lane, a cherished graduate of Clover High School, has been drafted into the NFL by the Washington Commanders. Jaylin’s story is deeply rooted in Clover, where his journey began and where the community wholeheartedly supported his burgeoning talent.

From his formative years spent on Clover’s local fields to his memorable performances as a Clover High School Blue Eagle, Jaylin’s dedication and skill were evident to everyone in town. He wasn’t just an athlete; he was a member of the Clover family, and his passion for football became a shared source of local pride and excitement. The values instilled and the encouragement received within the Clover community laid a vital foundation for his future success.

Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Jaylin excelled at the collegiate level, first making a significant impact at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Over three seasons (2020-2022), he became a key player for the Blue Raiders, culminating in a standout 2022 season with 69 receptions for 940 yards and five touchdowns. His versatility extended to special teams, where he earned Second Team All-Conference USA honors as a punt returner.

His journey then led him to Virginia Tech for his final two collegiate seasons (2023-2024), where he continued to shine, amassing 79 receptions for 1,004 yards and eight touchdowns. In his senior year, he led the Hokies with 38 receptions for 466 yards and two touchdowns.

Jaylin’s exceptional athleticism, underscored by his impressive performance at the NFL Combine, including a 4.34-second 40-yard dash, solidified his draft potential. Now, as the Washington Commanders welcome him as the 128th overall pick, Clover stands united in celebration. Jaylin’s achievement is a testament to the talent nurtured within our community and the remarkable heights attainable through dedication and perseverance.
