Gold Hill Elementary School is one of twelve schools statewide selected as a finalist for the 2025 Palmetto’s Finest Award, a prestigious award honoring academic excellence and innovation in education.

The selection follows a rigorous evaluation process conducted by a committee of educators and previous award winners. Schools are assessed based on student achievement, instructional programs, professional learning communities, and school culture.

This year, 29 schools across South Carolina submitted comprehensive 20-page applications, which were followed by onsite visits from a review committee. Now, as a finalist, Gold Hill Elementary will undergo a second round of evaluations before the winners are announced on April 30, 2025 via a live stream from South Carolina ETV.

The South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA) presents the Palmetto’s Finest Award annually to schools that demonstrate outstanding innovation, academic achievement, and a commitment to student success.

“We are thrilled that Gold Hill Elementary has been named a finalist for Palmetto’s Finest schools,” said Principal Josh Burris. “It is an incredible honor to work alongside such a dedicated team of educators and staff. Having a committee of past Palmetto’s Finest winners visit every classroom, speak with every staff member, and witness the alignment between our values and the exceptional work happening in our school is a tremendous compliment. I am very proud to be a Hornet.”
