Two Rock Hill sisters have been sentenced to probation without any time in prison after their mother died from sever neglect. The woman was 99 years old and passed away due to bedsores and malnutrition. The judge ruled that Martha Carroll Rutledge, 74 and Nancy Cameron Rutledge, 69 should not go to prison neglecting a vulnerable adult. This despite prosecutors saying that the mother died in “a horriffic state” in the summer of last year. Initially, Rock Hill police had charged both women with neglect which could have resulted in up to 30 years in prison. Tuesday, both sisters pled guilty to simple neglect which holds a sentence of up to five years. After a plea deal and admittance of the neglect, both sisters were given just a year probation
