RHSD Board Trustee James Burns requests independent analysis of budget and finances

Lost in the shuffle of the retirement of Rock Hill Schools Superintendent Dr. Tommy Schmolze, was a unique vote that came right before it. At the Rock Hill School Board Meeting Tuesday, Board Trustee James Burns gave a short presentation and requested that the district do an independent audit of its finances. It was just last month that the public learned of several high level positions were cut or planned to be cut to get more funding in the classrooms. Mr.Burns asked for independent analysis of the districts budget and said during the meeting that “he is ready to turn the page on some programs and positions that overlap, creating confusion and time consuming training.” All the board members voted in favor of the district wide audit unanimously.
