Former Chester County Sheriff set for release after being moved to halfway house in North Carolina

A former Chester County Sheriff who’s in prison for corruption is being prepared for his release. George Alexander “Big A” Underwood has been in prison four years in Kentucky and since has been moved to a North Carolina halfway house in Butner near Raleigh. Per the Herald, the release date is set for January 23rd. He is finishing a 46 month prison sentence at the age of 61. In 2021, a federal jury convicted him on charges of conspiracy, falsifying records and federal program theft. Prosecutor’s with the US Attorney’s office labled him a “crook and a bully.” After Underwood is released, he still has three years of probation
