A manufacturer out of Italy could be coming to Fort Mill; needs York County Council approval

A new machine parts manufacturer could be coming to Fort Mill. A company out of Charlotte, Ognibene(Oyg-ne-benay) North America has applied to rezone 17 acres on Wilson Business Parkway off I-77 and Gold Hill. The site has a pond and is right behind the two auto dealerships off the exit. The property is currently owned by Sonic Automotive. York County planners received a plan to construct 144,000 square feet of a building on the site. There was no cost associated with the project but Ognibene puts together steering systems and other components. The headquarters for the company is actually out of northern, Italy. Worldwide, Ognibene has 1700 employees. While the planning commission voted in favor of the rezoning recommendation, County Council will have the final say at a later date.
