A former Sheriff in the Tri-County has been released from prison

Per the Herald, a former Sheriff of the Tri-County who was convicted on corruption charges has been released from federal prison.Alexander “Alex” Underwood was the sheriff of Chester County before a federal grand jury convicted him of conspiracy charges and falsifying records back in 2021. He was the head law enforcement official from 2013 to 2019. He’s been in a Kentucky prison for a majority of his prison time then sent to a halfway house in Raliegh North Carolina. Part of the charges for Underwood included using deputies to work on a man cave at his personal residence and using money that was from DUI Checkpoints. Per records, he has three years remaining of supervised release and has paid back 30,000 in restitution. It is not known where Underwood will live or stay.
