Schiller & Hamilton Law Firm in Rock Hill, South Carolina has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of the family of Jalen Roy Benjamin, who tragically lost his life following a motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer on August 10, 2024.

Jalen Benjamin was a beloved son, partner, and coach at Legion Academy in Rock Hill, and his loss has left his family heartbroken and searching for answers. Known for his kindness, ambition, and vibrant spirit, Jalen’s untimely death sent shockwaves through the Rock Hill community and has left a gaping hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. “This tragic case underscores the profound loss and enduring grief experienced by Jalen’s family, loved ones, the many young athletes that Jalen has coached, and the community as a whole,” states attorney Joel Hamilton, who represents the family.

The lawsuit alleges that on August 10, 2024, Thin Gye, who was driving a Freightliner tractor trailer truck at a high rate of speed, failed to maintain control of his truck and struck the rear end of Mr. Benjamin’s pickup truck, which was stopped in traffic on Interstate 20. The extreme force of this collision caused devastating damage to Mr. Benjamin’s truck and unfortunately caused the fatal injuries that cut Mr. Benjamin’s young life short.

Joel Hamilton, who is a partner with Schiller & Hamilton Law Firm, has years of experience in handling wrongful death, catastrophic injury cases, and tractor trailer collisions. “Our firm stands with the Benjamin family, offering not only our legal expertise, but our compassion and solidarity in their time of need,” attorney Hamilton states, adding “we can never bring Jalen back, but this lawsuit seeks to hold accountable those responsible for this devastating loss, hopefully providing some measure of justice and ultimately closure to the family as they continue to mourn the loss of Jalen.”
