A 16-year-old sophomore at Lancaster High School was identified as the person behind a threatening text message circulating on Wednesday among students at Buford High School. The teen reportedly used a TextNow number to write a message warning people “Don’t come to school tomorrow Imma shoot you in the teachers,” according to a Friday press release from Lancaster County. The student allegedly sent the text to herself, took a screenshot of it, and sent it to “several group chats on social media.” An investigation determined the threat was fabricated, and the “author had no intention of bringing a gun to a school. The 16-year-old girl’s identity is not being revealed, because she is under 18 years old. She was referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in connection with a charge of student threats. This threat was separate from threatening words found written on the wall the same day, Wednesday, at Lancaster High School. Photos showed graffiti on a bathroom wall containing threats of gun violence at the school. Both the district and the Lancaster Police Department said then that extra security would be on campus. There was no known suspect as of Wednesday. Authorities did not provide an update on that situation this past Friday.
