Mayor Gettys Says Lots of Ideas For Former Panthers Headquarters Site

This week it was revealed that the City of Rock Hill has now taken control of the redevelopment and property of the failed Carolina Panthers headquarters site. The contract with Colliers, a real estate firm has since expired and now the City is working with entities such as the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and their own Economic Development team on the best fit for the 240 acres. Rock Hill Mayor John Gettys says there are lots of ideas, but asks for patience saying it will take time finding the right pieces. Mayor Gettys also says he would like to see high paying jobs and employers like Eli-Lilly, Merck, and Ozempic, something of a medical park that would bring other business along with it. He says its something the City does not have and could utilize. He also hopes that the new interchange Exit 81 is finished by the end of May so that the site can be showcased as well.
