Fort Mill schools puts out message to warn of loud noises near schools and subdivision

The Fort Mill School District messaged parents about possible loud noises that could continue for months near their facilities. The office of the State Fire Marshall has issued a blasting permit to Palmetto Rock Services regarding a new residential subdivision on the Springfield Parkway. Its near Fort Mill Middle and a grocery store and shopping center. The message said they will be using explosives similar to dynamite to blast rocks before construction is to begin. The work could start as early as today and run through the second week of May. They did say the blasting would only occur between 8AM and 5PM. The company is confident there is no danger to the community but rather to make them aware of the noises that will be a result of the blasting. The new subdivision coming in is right at the York and Lancaster county line.
