Woman pleads guilty to four counts of DUI from a fatal crash 2 years ago

A woman in South Carolina has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to driving the wrong way on I-77 and killing four people. She was also drunk while the incident occurred. One of the four people who died was her own daughter. Rolesha Spears 31 went at least 5 miles on I-77 driving the wrong way in York County before she collided with another car in October of 2021. Spears blood alcohol concentration was at .258 after the crash which is well over the legal limit at .08. She pleaded guilty to four counts of felony DUI with death and another count of child endangerment. The potential sentence was actually 100 years, 25 for each felony. Judge Eugene Griffith said that “No sentence can bring back a child or family member”, and ranks very high on the worst that he had ever seen.
