On Thursday evening, five people were rescued from the bank of the Catawba River on the South Carolina side. After storms hit York County, tubers were caught in the middle of it on the bank of the river and thats where firefighters located them around 6pm. They were between I77 and the US 21 bridge. Two boats and kayaks were used by the fire department as part of the rescue. The river was apparently low at the time of the incident which made it more dangerous.
