“Well loved” Myrtle Beach officer hired as new Tega Cay police chief


The City of Tega Cay has hired a new Police Chief. Joseph Crosby has been selected to replace Chief Steve Parker who retired earlier this month.
Crosby joins Tega Cay after serving with the City of Myrtle Beach Police in 1997 and served most recently as captain over investigations while also overseeing the department’s public information and special event planning responsibilities.
Crosby earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 2017 from Columbia College and his Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 2019 also from Columbia College. He also earned an Administrative Officers Management Program certification from North Carolina State University in 2009.
The news blog MyrtleBeachSC.com reports Crosby “was among the most senior and most valued officers” at the Myrtle Beach Police Department, was “well loved by residents and merchants in the City of Myrtle Beach” and his co-workers.
Crosby starts in his new role on November 15.
