SC-DHEC continues to share data that says communities with mask requirement ordinances see a slower rate of disease spread than those without.

Nearly 42 percent of residents, or approximately 2,100,000 South Carolinians, reside in jurisdictions that have local mask requirements in place. The data shows that those areas with mask requirements have experienced a greater percent decrease in cases after their ordinance initiation.

SC-DHEC also announced 766 new cases. York County had 28, Lancaster County had 17 and Chester County had 3. 6,324 people were tested for the virus on Thursday and 12.1% tested positive.

21 additional confirmed deaths were also announced. The numbers include 1 elderly individual from both York and Chester Counties. The death total is now 3,008.

Clover School District 2 has several new student cases of COVID-19 at Oakridge Middle and Larne Elementary.

The York, Rock Hill and Fort Mill School Districts have no new positive cases.
