Project HOPE is designed to help motivated people obtain healthcare industry recognized certificates and degrees through training so that they may fill high demand healthcare positions.  The target population includes individuals who are receiving TANF or SNAP benefits, foster youth who are aging out of the system, Veterans, Catawba Native Americans, and individuals with household incomes less than 200% of the federal poverty level who are TANF-eligible but not currently receiving cash benefits.  Services are free of charge for accepted participants.  Project HOPE participants are eligible to receive:  assistance with tuition, fees and books, uniforms, child care, and transportation.  Only persons selected through the lottery will be able to participate in this project.

Project HOPE is a unique program consisting of five phases:  (1) Recruitment/Selection, (2) Boot Camp, (3) Introduction to Health Care, (4) Healthcare Career Preparation, and (5) Employment Readiness and Placement.

There are 13 approved curricula which are:

Registered Nurse (RN), Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Tech, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Tech (EMT), Paramedic, Medical Assistant, Medical Records Tech, Medical Lab Tech, Phlebotomist, Cardiovascular Tech (EKG), Patient Care Tech, Certified Nursing Assistant.
