Cox named new principal at Rock Hill’s Saluda Trail Middle School
Elissa Cox will not have to move very far when she begins her new position as principal of Saluda Trail Middle School after working in various roles at South Pointe High School over the past 11 years.
Cox replaces Brenda Campbell, who has served the students, staff, and Wildcat community for the past 12 years.
Campbell is retiring next month.
Cox arrived at South Pointe in 2005 – the school’s first year – after six years at Rock Hill High School where she taught math. She spent four years at Pleasant Hill High School in Hemingway, S.C. before moving to Rock Hill.
At South Pointe, she has been the mathematics department chair and program coordinator for math, science, and advanced studies before settling into her role as an assistant principal in 2011.
Since 2013, she has been tasked with overseeing curriculum and instruction.
Cox holds Master’s degrees from Winthrop University and The Citadel and a bachelor’s from Clemson University.
She will begin her new position on July 1.
