SC Lottery Chief weighs in on $500M Mega Millions jackpot

A half-billion dollars is up for grabs as Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing approaches.  It’s the largest lottery jackpot ever.

South Carolina Education Lottery Director Paula Harper Bethea said on Thursday’s edition of Palmetto Mornings on WRHI that the jackpot has been growing for two months.

If anyone’s lucky enough to win the 500-million-dollar jackpot… the cash option is 359-million dollars.  Bethea explains why most people take that option.

Bethea is urging all South Carolinians to keep the Mega Millions jackpot in proper perspective.

Odds of winning are one-in-175-million.  Bethea says the Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since January 27th.
