Knights officials and developers told Charlotte City Council they’d like for the city to chip in 11-million dollars for a stadium uptown, joining Mecklenburg County that has already committed 8-million dollars to the plan.

Jerry Reese, a long time opponent of the Knights’ plan, says he plans to file a sixth lawsuit blocking the plans.

The Knights must have two major sponsors lined up by the end of this month, or 100-thousand dollars deposited in an escrow account.

Groundbreaking on a proposed facility is penciled in for October, with first pitch in the spring of 2014.
