Monday night, Rock Hill city council once again took a step forward in requesting 16-million dollars in grant funding from the US Department of Transportation to find improvements along S.C. Highway 161.

[media-credit name=”YORK COUNTY GOVERNMENT” align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]Six months ago, the city applied for the grants, but they were turned down. York County voters approved nearly 6-million dollars in matching funds through the Pennies for Progress program.

Rock Hill City Manager says the project is also receiving some support from members of Congress.

Vehaun says the new application for the 21-million dollar project includes updated figures and statements about the number of jobs lost due to the lack of funding.
